Batman’s iconic Bat-Signal has been spotted lighting up the skies of the Nottinghamshire village that shares its name with his home.
The Bat-Signal has been seen across various buildings and spots in Gotham – the Nottinghamshire one – including St Lawrence Church, The Sun Inn, the Memorial Hall and the village sign itself, but the reason why has been unclear.
Until now.
As CORGI marks its 70th anniversary, it has decided to take over the real-life Gotham by turning it into a Batman utopia – and it gets better for fans of the caped crusader.
CORGI will be hosting an event in Gotham village of Gotham for fans, families and residents on Saturday (September 19) – the same day as the world marks Batman Day.
A life-size replica of the iconic 1966 Batmobile will arrive in the village, accompanied by a Batman character for picture opportunities, plus the first 100 attendees to arrive dressed as the Dark Knight will each receive a complimentary CORGI Batmobile model, completely free of charge.
For CORGI, the celebration brings together two enduring icons of British and popular culture during its landmark 70th anniversary year.
Guy Stainthorpe, CORGI brand managing director, said: “For 70 years, CORGI has been turning the cars people love from the big screen and popular culture into miniature icons. So bringing the Batmobile back to Gotham felt like the perfect way to celebrate.
“We wanted to create something genuinely special for fans, families and the local community: the Bat-Signal lighting up Gotham, a life-size Batmobile and, of course, Batman himself. We can’t think of a better place to welcome the Dark Knight home.”
The pop-up event will take place in Gotham on September 19 from 10am and 1pm as part of CORGI’s World Batman Day celebrations.
