Water filter is a big hit in our house

The water in our house is hard – and when I say hard, I mean Grant Mitchell hard.
Taps seize, showers stop working, kettles fill with limescale – that’s the kind of hard.
And that means the water has a very specific taste – one you either love or hate.
We’re pretty divided to be honest, my daughter loves it so much that when we go to soft-water Cornwall, we take ours with us.
Me, I did not think I was fussed either way.
But would a water filter make any difference? And would we actually use it?
I was sent the Waterdrop C1SL to find the answers to both these questions.
The Waterdrop C1SL is a bit of a looker – all smooth edges and digital readout – definitely a significant step up from those filters from yesteryear that lives in the fridge.
It works through what it calls an ‘Alkaline Mineralized Reverse Osmosis System’. Full disclosure, I do not know what that means.
But what I do know is that it was (relatively) easy to get set up. There’s a slightly fiddly move to get the filter in but two fully-grown adults eventually managed it between them.
Then we gathered in the kitchen, filled its tank up and waited…
The filter gently purrs as it does its magic osmosis, then it was tasting time.
Now if you’ve asked me before if I thought I’d be able to taste the difference, I would have said no.
But I could, definitely smoother, less minerally.
And the proof is in the pudding – in the couple of weeks we’ve had it, it’s had lots of use. So much in fact that if anything, I wish it had a bigger tank.
The water dispensed is room temperature, which could be an issue for some, but not for me.
