BritBox has an early holiday gift for fans of “The Other Bennet Sister.”
The streamer on Saturday unveiled a first look at the period drama’s upcoming Christmas special, which recently wrapped production in Wales.
In the full photo below, newlyweds Mary Bennet (Ella Bruccoleri) and Tom Hayward (Dónal Finn) enjoy a picnic together, but it looks like the outing is accompanied by serious conversation, judging by the focused looks on both Mary’s and her new husband’s faces. (Fortunately, his hand is sweetly covering hers, so we’ll assume all is well with their romance.)

What to expect from The Other Bennet Sister’s Christmas special
“The Other Bennet Sister,” which released on BritBox in May (and adapts Janice Hadlow’s novel of the same name), focuses on Ella Bruccoleri’s Mary Bennet, the oft-overlooked middle sister in Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” At the end of the first season, Mary’s love triangle with Tom Hayward (Dónal Finn) and William Ryder (Laurie Davidson) resolved with Mary and Tom confirming their love for one another and later getting married.
But in the forthcoming three-part Christmas special, “with marriage comes a new identity, and the question remains: Who will Mary become as Mrs. Hayward?” the official logline asks.
In addition to Bruccoleri, Finn, and Davidson, returning cast members include Ruth Jones (Mrs. Bennet), Tanya Reynolds (Caroline Bingley), Varada Sethu (Ann Baxter), Poppy Gilbert (Lizzie Darcy), Maddie Close (Jane Bingley), Grace Hogg-Robinson (Lydia Wickham), Molly Wright (Kitty Buncock), and Anna Fenton-Garvey (Charlotte Collins). Nerys Amber Stocks has also joined the cast as Lucy, Mary’s housemaid.
The holiday special will stream Stateside on BritBox, but a release date has yet to be announced. What do you hope to see in these Christmas episodes?
