Kelly Osbourne recently spilled the tea about her relationship with her estranged older sister, Aimee Osbourne. Despite Aimee being an Osbourne, she’s hardly ever heard from publicly. She didn’t spend as much time in the limelight as her younger sister, who at one point was one of the world’s most famous teens during the height of the reality show “The Osbournes.” Known for her funky fashion and loud mouth, Kelly quickly skyrocketed to fame while her older sister wanted no part in the series and opted for privacy.
On the “We Need To Talk” podcast, Kelly opened up about her sister’s perspective on the television show and why she kept her distance. She explained how being on the show “just wasn’t meant to be for her … We’re not close, but I do respect her enough to, you know, keep her anonymity, if you understand. I believe there’s a reason for everything.” Aimee moved out of the family home and into the guest house at just 16 years old when she learned about the upcoming filming of the reality show. In 2019, Sharon Osbourne told “The Talk” that Aimee “couldn’t live in our house because we were filming and it drove her insane … She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea. It was appalling to her.” Over the years, Aimee has remained away from the public, but made a rare appearance for the funeral of her father, the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.
Aimee and Kelly couldn’t be more different and it seems that the two will never be close
According to Kelly Osbourne, her relationship with her sister was distant since childhood, even before the conception of the reality show. She explained that Aimee “didn’t really ever acknowledge” her or her brother Jack Osbourne. “She was just in her own world doing her own thing,” Kelly said. “And I do, to a certain extent, if I’m honest, feel as though she was embarrassed of us.” Not much is directly known about exactly why Aimee wanted to separate herself from her family. She is, however, the lead singer of her own band, ARO. While she also kept her life private from the public, she also kept her interest in music private for a long time before breaking into the scene. She told Cleveland.com, “I kept it to myself ’cause you never want it known that you want to do what your parents do.”
While Kelly expressed her ability to try to understand her sister’s point of view, it doesn’t mean that she didn’t feel at least a bit of resentment towards Aimee. Kelly admitted that dealing with their fractured relationship was “one of the hardest things of my life.” She made it clear that, sadly, reconciliation isn’t on the table for them. “We’re very different,” she said. “Everything I am, she’s not. Everything she is, I’m not. Like you couldn’t be more polar opposite. We’re like oil and water.”
