The opposition YSR Congress Party, headed by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, appears to have begun preparations for the next Assembly elections by bringing in political strategist Kapil Sahu.
According to party sources, Kapil Sahu, who reportedly played a key role in actor-politician Vijay’s political campaign in Tamil Nadu, has quietly started working with Jagan and is said to have prepared a draft master plan aimed at helping the YSRCP return to power in 2029.
Jagan has already announced plans to undertake a padayatra next year and is also preparing to visit various districts as part of efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Sources said Kapil Sahu and his team have begun working on a detailed campaign strategy for Jagan. He has reportedly held a couple of rounds of discussions with the YSRCP chief and suggested a roadmap for the coming months.
The team is also said to have submitted an assessment covering the strengths and weaknesses of YSRCP leaders, along with a review of the party’s grassroots activities.
One of the initial recommendations is reportedly to strengthen the party’s spokesperson system so that the YSRCP can present its political arguments more effectively and respond quickly to the ruling alliance.
The party is also working on a fresh digital and social media strategy, with a special focus on connecting with younger voters. A new formula is reportedly being considered to give greater importance to social media supporters who are already working for the YSRCP.
The YSRCP is expected to unveil a fresh political roadmap around its plenary and is preparing plans to take the organisation and its campaign more aggressively among the people.
Party leaders indicated that Jagan may soon make an official announcement regarding Kapil Sahu’s association with the YSRCP.
