Ahead of tonight, content creators Deenified called on Birmingham Town Hall to cancel the show and said Cleese is a ‘hate preacher’ towards Islam.

Cleese has previously faced backlash for saying the Qur’an is a book ‘all about killing infidels’.

In a video, the content creators said: “For years, you have used your platform to attack Islam, spreading dangerous misinformation and creating hostility towards Muslims.

“Saying things like Islam is all about killing. This isn’t comedy, that’s hate speech and you’re just a hate preacher.

“Let’s call out the hypocrisy. Free speech has become a shield for anti-Muslim hostility and vilification with no consequences.

“The moment that anyone uses that same free speech to attack other faiths relentlessly, like Judaism, they are called out, labelled anti semitic and exposed on national media.

“When the target is Islam, suddenly it’s just all satire.”

On X, Deenified added: “You’re not a comedian—you’re a hate preacher.

Birmingham and its community outright reject your so-called “comedy.” You aren’t welcome here.”

On X, John Cleese responded: “Hard for people to tell if you are a comedian when they have absolutely no sense of humour.”
