Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game that never stops giving. Since 2018, Rockstar’s open-world Western epic has kept fans enraptured, with new free content regularly being added to the game. More specifically, new free downloads keep being made available for Red Dead Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the highest-selling and best-reviewed games of all time, and it continues to justify that fact with more than just the story of Arthur Morgan. With just two months until the long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar is still adding more to the game with regular updates, the latest even set to last throughout the rest of September 2026, and into early October 2026.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Officially Gets New Free Downloads Until October 5
The newest free event in Red Dead Redemption 2 is all about moonshine. There’s a lot for players to do, and there are plenty of great rewards for them to nab for completing them.
“The cities, towns, and outlying fortifications of the frontier are craving the harder stuff,” the background story for the event on Rockstar’s website reads. “Satiate their thirst by completing Moonshiner Sales to earn 3X RDO$, Role XP, and XP all month long, and get a range of additional bonuses and tripled payouts in Moonshiner Story Missions, Free Roam Missions, and more.”
“Complete a Moonshiner Sale each week to receive gifts and rewards befitting a bootlegging troublemaker.”
As part of this month’s Moonshiner Story Missions, Red Dead Redemption 2 players can rebuild Maggie Fike’s operation, and earn 3X RDO$, Role XP, and XP throughout the entire event. Gunslingers at Rank 50 or higher will also receive the Zapatero Outfit and Golden Spirit Buckle just for logging in during the month, while Moonshiners will get the Emerald Ranch and Falls Moonshiner Bar Photographs for doing so.
Each week of September, going into the first week of October, will also feature its own Featured Series. The Hardcore Last Stand Series is playable from the 15th through the 21st, the Ambarino Series will last from September 22nd to September 28th, and the final week of the event, ending on October 5, will feature the Hardcore Pro Series.
Winning the Featured Series will not just earn gamers Triple Rewards, but also the tan Porter jacket, and completing any three Daily Challenges will earn them the black and red Carbow Double Bandolier. Players can also earn a community-inspired outfit that includes an Opulent Vest, Folded String Tie, Bandito Pants, and Worn Roper Boots.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 arriving November 19, 2026, diving back into RDR2 is the perfect way to pass the time until the year’s most anticipated game finally arrives. Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC and PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
