It is known that Ravi Teja accepted a remuneration of Rs 8 crore for Irumudi, while the Nizam rights were valued at around Rs 7 crore.
However, reportedly, he did not have much confidence in the film initially and considered selling the Nizam rights to anyone willing to take them.
It is even said that he deputed a person at Mythri office to explore potential buyers who might acquire the rights for Rs 7 crore.
Interestingly, even the makers’ confidence in the film appears to have been limited at that stage.
Otherwise, they could have retained the Nizam rights themselves instead of effectively allowing the hero to hold an asset valued at Rs 7 crore.
Ironically, it was reportedly said that, at one point, Ravi Teja himself asked the producers to pay him at least Rs 7 crore and take back the Nizam rights. If true, that reflects just how little confidence he had in the film at the time.
Today, everyone is speaking highly of the film, but reportedly, the situation was very different before its release.
Ultimately, however, Ravi Teja’s decision turned out to be highly rewarding. Unable to sell the Nizam rights, he reluctantly retained them and reportedly went on to earn more than Rs 50 crore from the territory.
It was a remarkable turnaround. As the saying goes, luck appears to have been firmly on Ravi Teja’s side. That, perhaps, is the magic of destiny.
