Hundreds of guests booked in for the restaurant’s opening weekend

It’s known for its slow cooked meats and tasty barbecue flavours and now a new Hickory’s Smokehouse has opened up near Manchester.
Following the arrival of Hickory’s in Standish, Wigan, last year – the first site to open in Greater Manchester – the company has now opened its latest restaurant in Bold Heath, Widnes.
Hundreds of guests booked in over the weekend after Friday’s grand opening, with a ‘taste of Hickory’s famous Southern hospitality’ promised, along with its ‘unique combination of low ‘n’ slow BBQ, big flavours and family-friendly fun’.

Founded with a passion for bringing authentic Southern BBQ to the UK and inspired by the smokehouses of the American South, the Hickory’s team have spent years perfecting their recipes and travelling across the Southern States, discovering the food, hospitality and culture that continue to inspire every one of their restaurants.
The Chester based company opened its first Hickory’s in Chester over 15 years ago and, as well as sites in Poynton and Wilmslow, has restaurants across the Midlands, Yorkshire and North Wales.
Having built a loyal following, it says the reaction to Bold Heath – which has its own outdoor play area and indoor cinema showing family classics and recent releases – has been incredible, with thousands of local guests already keen to get through the doors.

“Opening a new Hickory’s is always incredibly special. We love becoming part of the local community, and we’ve already had such a warm welcome from people across Bold Heath, Widnes and the surrounding area.
“Now we’re ready to fire up the smokers, get the Southern hospitality flowing and show everyone exactly what the Hickory’s experience is all about.”
Hickory’s says the new site stays true to its Southern roots, with ‘every inch of the new restaurant has been carefully designed to transport guests across the Atlantic’.
At the heart of the menu are Hickory’s signature smokehouse favourites, including Memphis-style ribs, Texas-style brisket and BBQ pulled pork, all cooked low ‘n’ slow over Hickory wood to create the ‘unmistakable flavour of the Deep South’.
Alongside the smokehouse classics, guests can tuck into burgers, steaks, fajitas, subs and Southern-inspired appetisers, with plenty of sides and vegetarian dishes too.
And there’s no chance of leaving without satisfying a sweet tooth, with indulgent desserts, shakes and Hickory’s famous Fro-Co frozen custard all on the menu.
The Bold Heath site also pays homage to the area’s huge sports community and has created one of its Sportbook Bars on a brand new mezzanine area – with multi-screens showing every kind of sport, including football, rugby and their beloved NFL which kicked off its latest season last Sunday.
NFL action has also been popular at the Standish restaurant which is hosting its own NFL Sundays with the NFL RedZone on the big screens and ‘more wings, more beer and more BBQ than ever’ up for grabs.
