“The Paradise” is set to release worldwide on September 24. Ahead of the release, actress Kayadu Lohar interacted with the media and spoke about her character, working with Nani and director Srikanth Odela, and her upcoming projects.
Tell us about your character in The Paradise. How did you get the opportunity?
After watching “Dragon,” Srikanth Odela believed that I could pull off this character. He narrated the story to me, and after a look test, I was selected. I play Subbulakshmi, who is called Subbu by everyone. There are many surprises surrounding my character. I am Jadal’s love interest and an important part of his journey, but Subbu also has her own journey, which is very different.
It is a performance-oriented role with a lot of scope. My character is also crucial to the story. Among all the roles I have played so far, this is definitely the most different.
How was it working with Nani? How was your experience working with director Srikanth?
Nani plays Jadal in the film, and the character is quite challenging. The way he has portrayed the character and performed the action is not easy. But Nani carried it with a lot of confidence and did a wonderful job. He worked extremely hard for the film. Nani is a very sweet and humble person. His journey is inspiring, and I learned many things from him. It was a great experience working with him.
Srikanth sir is a very different kind of director, and filmmakers like him are rare. He has a great vision and is very clear about what he wants. He also challenged me as an actor and pushed me in many ways.
What is your dream role?
I would love to do action and sports films. I would also like to play a character in a biopic if I get the right opportunity.
You are working across different film industries. Which industry do you like the most?
I have received a lot of love from every film industry I have worked in, and I feel very lucky in that regard. I am happy to have opportunities to work across different industries and receive the love of audiences from all of them.
Can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
I am doing a film with Suriya sir in Tamil. I am also working on another Tamil film with director Mari Selvaraj.
