Aldi confirms details of the big opening of its latest shop – which will double the size of the one it replaces
A discount supermarket giant has confirmed the opening details for its new, bigger, better Sutton Coldfield store with a free giveaway – but to get it, you will have to be quick.
German chain, Aldi, is opening its new Brassington Avenue shop in the centre of Sutton at 8am on Thursday, October 8.
The opening will be marked by Great Britain’s Paralympic rugby gold medallist, Nicholas Cummins, cutting the ribbon.

Nick will also be giving away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range, but these will be limited to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Wheelchair rugby star Nicholas added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store.
“It will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of ParalympicsGB.”

Aldi has said the new store will be double the size of its nearby Parade shop, which it replaces, and will then offer a bigger range of some 1,800 items.
It will offer ‘fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning Specially Selected range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, and a Food to Go section at the front of the store’.

Aldi’s famous middle aisle Special buys will be replenished on Thursdays and Sundays which the firm said ‘offer extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools’.
The new store will be managed by Mike O’Brien along with a team of 27 staff ‘from the local community’.
It pushed its ‘cheapest supermarket’ mantle for 2025, awarded by consumer group Which? For five years in a row.

Aldi said its Sutton shop is also calling on local charities and food banks in Sutton Coldfield to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week.

Aldi store manager Mark O’Brien said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Sutton Coldfield.
“It’s set to be a special day and having Paralympic hero Nicholas join us will make it a morning to remember.”
It will be open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm, like its existing and other stores.
