Dancing with the Stars ended its second week with another surprise elimination on Tuesday night.
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, 56, who was partnered with pro Alan Bersten, became the third celebrity who was sent home in season 35, while Step Up star Jenna Dewan, 45, soared into a fierce three-way tie for the top spot.
‘I think I tried my best,’ De Laurentiis said. ‘It wasn’t best enough, but I tried my best.’
The show returned for Viral Hits Night with contestants dancing to chart-topping songs before getting their scores from judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
De Laurentiis danced a salsa to CHULA by Becky G, doing flips and lifts for the audience, but it wasn’t enough to sway the judges into a high score.
Tonioli told her that she gave him a ‘salsa without spice’ while Hough said ‘I just want a little more power.’ Meanwhile Inaba quipped that the performance was ‘shaky.’

The remaining contestants include Golden Globe nominee Julia Stiles, 45, who made her highly anticipated debut on the dance floor last week.
Also competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy are female contenders The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress Tatyana Ali, Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn, reality TV personality Maura Higgins, and Summer House star Ciara Miller.
Rounding out the star-studded lineup are The Bachelor fan-favorite Tyler Cameron, Paralympian Ezra Frech, Hanson musician Taylor Hanson, athlete Jackson Olson, Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez, Glee alum Harry Shum Jr., and comedian Connor Wood.
Last week saw the double elimination of Conner Leavitt and Sarah Jane Nader, who were sent packing after failing to impress on the dance floor.
Tuesday’s show kicked off with Dewan and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy.
They danced a jive to Animal by KATSEYE and scored a 21 out of 30.
‘What a way to start the show,’ Tonioli told them. Inaba gave them a job ‘well done.’
Hough added that the performance was ‘Fast, fierce, fantastic.’

Love Island star Maura Higgins and partner Mark Ballas had the highest score the week prior, but their cha cha on Tuesday earned them a score of 19
Bachelor star Tyler Cameron gave a sizzling performance with partner Sharna Burgess. They danced to Girls by The Kid LAROI, which earned them a score of 16
Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez and partner Witney Carson tied for the lowest score after getting a 12 for their paso doble to Rihanna’s hit Where Have You Been

Miller hit the dance floor next with partner Brandon Armstrong. They danced to No Broke Boys by Disco Lines & Tinashe.
Tonioli reacted with a, ‘Beautiful, my darling.’
Hough said she needed to watch her ‘frame.’
The reality TV star earned an 18 out of 30.
Cameron was up next with partner Sharna Burgess. They danced to Girls by The Kid LAROI, which earned them a score of 16.
Hough quipped that their performance felt ‘a little more like cabaret than a salsa.’
Tonioli agreed, joking that it was more ‘Terminator tonight.’
Stiles hit the dance floor with her partner Ezra Sosa, with the duo showing off their moves to The Door by Teddy Swims.
Their performance, which included spins, earned them a 16 out of 30.
Tonioli compared her to ‘Sharon Stone.’ Meanwhile, Inaba told her she needed to ‘let it go’ and ‘take the handbrakes off.’
Hough said it was a ‘good performance.’
Before dancing, the actress reflected on the song lyrics, and said that when she was younger she felt ‘intoxicated’ with fame, but it ‘also scared me and I kind of ran in the other direction.’
She later said that it was a ‘big deal’ to get her on the show because she’s a very private person, but is now working on being more open with the public.
