Rita Wilson is embracing her age while continuing to take bold new risks at 69. The singer appears unafraid to take risks and make bold choices. She recently showed off a huge tattoo covering most of her back. Notably, the design is almost identical to the large back tattoo worn by her eldest son, Chet Hanks.
Wilson was promoting her latest track, Stranger With Age, on social media. In the post, she went topless as she showed off her new cross tattoo. She kept her modesty away from the camera lens, and viewers could only see how the ink covered her entire back. She wrote, “STRANGER WITH AGE? Who? Me? I’m lovin’ it! Who else is stranger with age? STRANGER WITH AGE song is out everywhere.”
Fans lauded Wilson for her decision to get inked. However, it was not confirmed whether it is temporary or permanent. Many viewers were quick to notice that she copied her son’s back tattoo.
An Instagram user wrote, “Stranger with age is the BEST – in every way.” Many fans noted that they were inspired by Wilson and how she is always in high spirits. “Turning 64 on Oct. 5th and definitely stranger and more self-assured each day! I love this phase of life. Thanks for the reminder,” a fan penned.
According to Hola!, Wilson also has an arm tattoo featuring a sunrise and what appears to be an infinity sign. The ink also has some underlying text that was not visible in the photo. In the rest of the carousel, she showed her fun side that impressed many.
On the other hand, Chet has a similar tattoo with a rather dark outline. He showed off his back tattoo in a clip he shared in May. The 36-year-old wore nothing but a pair of shorts as he used a crossbow across a swimming pool.
Meanwhile, Wilson recently shared what the term “stranger with age” meant to her. She wrote, “I definitely feel stranger with age, and that’s a good thing!” before adding the different meaning of being strange. The singer continued, “If strange means being less conforming, speaking truth, being more accepting of myself and others, kicking up your heels because why not if it makes waiting for the elevator more fun? Who here is stranger with age? And that can be any age!”
Wilson is a mother of two, as she shares her sons, Chet and Truman, with Tom Hanks. The couple has a rather blended family, as the singer is also stepmother to Colin and Elizabeth Anne. Wilson married Hanks in 1988, after the two met on the sets of Bosom Buddies.
Chet reportedly inherited both his parents’ talents. Besides featuring in movies and TV shows, he is also a country singer. The 36-year-old is a part of the boy band named Something Out West. As Wilson also shares a close bond with her son, she once expressed her wish to collaborate with him.
According to People, the 69-year-old once shared that she would want her son to cover her song, Heart He Handed Down. Wilson dedicated the track to her father, who escaped Bulgaria and made a life in the U.S.
Although she shared that her elder son gave the background harmonies in the song, the singer noted that she wishes to make more music with Chet again.
