A BBC star who auditioned to become a new presenter of Strictly Come Dancing after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s exit has revealed the “intense” audition process she went through.

Speaking on her Clara & Munroe Are Into It podcast, Clara Amfo told her co-host Munroe Bergdorf that she tried out as a pair with an unnamed woman.

“We were all given code names like ‘Glitter’ and ‘Sparkle’, and you were bundled into this secret car, and they gave you the name of a fake TV show just in case the cab driver was asking where you were going,” the BBC Radio 1 star said before praising new hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe.
