Veteran actress Ambika has responded to the police complaint filed by her sister and actress Radha, strongly denying allegations that she and their brother attempted to illegally encash signed cheques worth nearly Rs 46 crore.
Radha recently approached the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, alleging that signed blank cheques were taken from her residence without her knowledge.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ambika denied the allegations and said there was no truth in the complaint. She also expressed disappointment that a family dispute had reached the police.
Ambika questioned how anyone could have taken the cheques from Radha’s room, pointing out that her sister is extremely careful with her personal belongings and keeps her bags secured with number locks.
“I worked day and night in my youth for my siblings. To be accused of stealing a cheque from a room is deeply painful and completely absurd,” Ambika said, while questioning how such an incident could have happened given Radha’s careful nature.
Ambika offered a different account of the five signed cheques mentioned in the dispute. According to her, Radha’s manager handed them over as part of a formal financial settlement concerning shares in ARS property and gold.
The allegations made in the complaint and Ambika’s response are part of an ongoing family dispute, with the matter now taking a legal course.
