A Persian-Kiwi artist with no upper limits, rap superstar CHAII is launching her sophomore album VIP (Very Important Persian) on 16th October via BMG. Based these days in Sydney with husband and co-producer Frank Keys, CHAII will be back on home turf this November, ushering in the new era of VIP with headline shows in Pōneke, Tāmaki Makaurau, Whāingaroa and Mt Maunganui — directly following pop-up launch events in Australia and South Korea. “I often think about the way a Persian rug is made over years and years. I feel like there are many similarities between that and my career, as it’s a lifetime labour of love. VIP is a new world, deeply inspired by my Persian culture, but also by growing up in Aotearoa in the early 2000s, the era that shaped me, when I first chose to make music.”
