Actress and TV cook Lisa Faulkner appeared on ITV’s Lorraine when she updated viewers on her health and made an appeal to viewers
Lisa Faulkner shared some good news with her fans.
The actress and TV presenter appeared alongside her celebrity chef husband John Torode on Thursday’s (September 24) edition of Lorraine where she spoke about her health.
The ITV show host Lorraine Kelly asked how she was doing following her breast cancer diagnosis, which she revealed publicly in July, and the 54-year-old replied: “I’m good, I’m really good. I had surgery in the summer and then radiotherapy and now I’m all done. They caught it really, really early.”
She continued: “I had a mammogram. There’s a whole thing with breast density that we don’t know about. In the end I had a contrast mammogram and that’s when they picked it up. It was super early which is absolutely amazing.”
The Waterloo Road star then paused before appealing directly to viewers saying: “Go for your mammogram. When they (the invitations) come through I think sometimes it can be so easily to go ‘I’m going to put that off because I’ve got this.'”
Lorraine chipped in: “And then you forget to do it. It’s tough going through it but being the person who’s holding the person’s hand is really hard as well.”
Former MasterChef host John replied: “The other thing is the education side of it. I know that you guys have been so upfront with everything,” as he referred to ITV Lorraine’s Change and Check breast cancer campaign.
“But the education for men as well… guys get out there and know about it, learn a little bit more about it, understand what’s going on.” Lisa told her husband: “John, you were my eyes and ears. After you’d got your biopsy or whatever you were doing I’d say ‘John, can you write it down because I can’t hear.'”
Lisa and John’s appearance on Lorraine came a day after Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, was a guest on the show when he faced questioning about his controversial new memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.
Piers Morgan has threatened legal action against the Earl over what he calls ‘fabricated inaccuracies’ and is demanding the book be withdrawn from sale. In the memoir, the Earl claimed Piers had ‘snarled’ when requested to keep away from Princess Diana’s funeral and mistakenly identified him as editor of the Mirror when the newspaper ran photographs of Princess Diana at the gym in 1993.
The Earl has subsequently issued an apology for the mistake and on Wednesday’s Lorraine, he revealed intentions to correct the ‘small error’ in forthcoming editions of the book.
Lorraine enquired: “What about the allegations from Piers Morgan? He’s going to pursue legal action, because there were some inaccuracies. You’ve apologised for it and it’s going to be changed.”
The Earl responded: “Absolutely. I mean, unlike some journalists who, you know, we know of. I’m very happy to acknowledge I made a small error. I’ve apologised and it will be put right in the second edition. But that’s it.”
