An Anthony Kim documentary film from Jody McVeigh-Schultz (Cocaine Quarterback: Signal-Caller for the Cartel, Spy High) is in the works at Propagate Content, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. And if you do not know who Kim is, well, his story is very much deserving of the… honor?
Kim was a golf prodigy and rising star until a 2012 achilles injury derailed not just his career, but his life. What was supposed to be a 12-month recovery turned into a 12-year hiatus from the game — at any level. Along the way, Kim, who received a massive insurance payout for cashing in an insurance policy protecting against a career-ending injury, struggled with drugs and alcohol.
“Anthony Kim was a golf prodigy destined for greatness before injuries, addiction, mental illness, and isolation led him to disappear from the sport, and the world, for more than a decade,” the doc’s synopsis reads. “Now, after an improbable return and a victory few believed possible, Kim tells his story for the first time, on his own terms. A deeply personal journey of recovery, redemption, and the search for what comes next.”
The documentary is produced by Propagate Content. Executive producers include company founders Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, as well as Drew Buckley and Jack Katkavich.
“Anthony’s story is one of extraordinary resilience, marked by some of the highest highs and lowest lows imaginable,” Silverman said in a statement. “We’re hopeful that by telling his story in all its complexity, we can inspire others to believe that a comeback is always possible.”
Kim returned to professional golf in 2024 via a LIV Tour exemption. He struggled mightily before securing his first pro golf tournament win in 16 years in February 2026.
