Hey, Cameron Winter! I was just talking about that guy! I saw Geese play Richmond’s Iron Blossom Festival on Sunday, and that got me reflecting on the nature of hype. Meanwhile, frontman Winter recently discussed the psyop allegations in a Rolling Stone cover story, and his Paul Thomas Anderson-directed concert film will soon start screening. (There’s an accompanying live album, too.) On Tuesday night, Winter also casually debuted a couple of new songs at a secret solo-piano show in New Orleans.
Winter apparently showed up at the New Orleans venue BJ’s Lounge for its open mic night, playing a handful of unreleased songs, as well as a few that are already out there. Threre’s no video of the new songs. Blogger Ock Sportello writes that Winter made sure nobody was filming for the new ones — “if you see a person with a phone, run them out of town” — but he did capture Winter’s “Love Takes Miles” performance. A new Cameron Winter solo album could very well be right around the corner, or he could just keep doing this forever.
