Escape to the country this summer for one of Wales’ prettiest little villages

Tourists to Pembrokeshire often head to the coast but there’s one spot, in the heart of the countryside that offers a gorgeous setting for a weekend break or summer holiday and that’s beautiful Cenarth.
Nestled at the meeting point of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire, Cenarth remains something of a hidden gem. The village is famed for the enchanting Cenarth Falls, a cascade of small waterfalls and pools along the River Teifi, which also serves as a notable salmon leap.

While the heart of the village itself is made up of a gift shop, two pubs – Three Horseshoes and The White Heart – a tea room, Ty Te, and the local deli, there’s also the National Coracle Centre there, too.
The Coracle centre is found the grounds of the 17th-century flour mill beside the salmon leaps and tells the story of the ancient form of water transport. The nearby Ty Te also does a special Coracle Tea – Welsh cake, scone and slice of bara brith, making it the Welshest afternoon treat we’ve seen!
For those who want to spend their time outdoors there’s nowhere lovelier to stroll than around the Cenarth Falls and in the past few years there’s been a riverside boardwalk installed so walkers and visitors can walk side-by-side with the Teifi and get great scenic views of the falls and surrounding woodland.
You can reach this upstream walk from the bridge via the car park and if you are quiet enough you could see kingfishers, otters and dippers along the way.
At just over 1km this walk is an easy option for families to enjoy. You can make it a loop walk, which will take you through a wooded section.
