The Coal House, ‘a destination steak restaurant and bar’ heading to Swansea, has officially announced its opening date.
The new venue, led by Redefining Dining Co, will move into the former Seagers site in Gorseinon.
Seagers closed in March, stating “financial pressures” had led to its decision. The new restaurant is now undergoing a “major transformation” ahead of its reopening.

A statement describing the new venture reads as follows: “At the heart of The Coal House will be a strong focus on steak, with expertly prepared dry-aged steaks forming a central part of the menu alongside seasonal dishes and a carefully developed wider food offering.
“The drinks experience will be equally important.
“The bar will offer carefully crafted cocktails, premium spirits, well-kept beers and a considered wine list designed both to complement the food and make The Coal House somewhere guests can visit simply for a drink.
“The ambition is simple: to create one of South Wales’ standout neighbourhood steakhouses — a restaurant people will travel for, but one that remains firmly rooted in Gorseinon and its community.
“Whether visiting for a steak, a family celebration, drinks with friends or simply a glass of wine at the bar, The Coal House will combine quality food and drink with relaxed, genuine hospitality.
“Redefining Dining Co also recognises the history and importance of the former Seagers to the area. The group intends to build on that legacy rather than simply replace it, preserving the site’s role as a place for the local community to dine, socialise and celebrate.”
Chief operating officer at Redefining Dining Co, Nathan Evans, said: “Living in the area, I know how much this venue means to the community and how Chris and the family have supported Gorseinon with great food and hospitality over many years.
“We didn’t want to see such a well-known local venue remain closed for long, and when the opportunity arose to bring it into the Redefining Dining Co family, we knew we could create something special here.
“The investment we’re making goes well beyond changing the name above the door. We’re completely transforming the venue and developing a food and drink offer that we believe will give Gorseinon something genuinely exciting.
“We’re looking forward to opening the doors this October, whether guests are joining us for a great steak, celebrating a family occasion or simply popping in for a drink.”
