‘I’d have lent him £2, he was looking that desperate’ said the football pundit

An Aston Villa icon and football pundit called out a ‘desperate’ man after he left a pub without paying for a drink.
Registering over 130 league appearances for the Premier League side, Andy Townsend said he was inside a boozer recently when a walker entered in shorts and boots.
Noticing he was ‘having a bit of a sweat on’, Townsend, 63, said the man went ‘straight into the toilet’.

After a short time away from the bar, the man swiftly left the toilet and pub without purchasing anything.
The act resulted in a video response from the ex-midfielder who said ‘you can’t just do that’.

On a video uploaded to Instagram, Townsend said: “The other night in the pub, a walker comes in. He’s got boots and the shorts on.
“He’s come in and he’s having a little look around, he doesn’t really know where he is. Anyway he’s come in and gone straight into the toilet. Bosh, does what he does.
“He comes out, and gone. Straight out the door, I’m like, really?
“Can’t you just buy half a lager? A coke, a bottle of water, something to acknowledge the fact that the pub has just saved your life.
“Surely, you do that, don’t you? I would never go to a pub, walk out and do that without buying a little drink or something.
“This bloke was having a bit of a sweat on, I could tell.
“If it had said on the door £2 for a ****, would he have paid it? Yes one hundred percent, he’d have paid it.
“I’d have lent him £2, he was looking that desperate. You can’t just do that, leave and not buy a drink… can you?”

Fellow pundit Ally McCoist responded: “Maybe he’s had a follow through in the old “fosters” and needed to get out double lively Andy. However you make a good point well made.”
Laura Woods commented: “Dying at this.”
And ex-Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris said: “Haha yep that’s definitely offside.”
