The makers of “Kalki 2”, the sequel to “Kalki 2898 AD”, recently announced that the film’s shooting will begin in October and is expected to be wrapped up by the second half of 2027.
Producer Ashwini Dutt confirmed that Prabhas will join the shoot shortly. Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan, who play key roles in the film, have already completed a portion of their shoot earlier this year.
As per the story established in the first part, “Kalki 2” is also expected to feature Deepika Padukone’s character Sumati. However, Deepika is no longer part of the project following reported differences with the team. Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house, officially announced that she would not be continuing with the film.
Following Deepika’s exit, there have been rumours that Sai Pallavi could step in to play the role of Sumati. However, director Nag Ashwin has now remained non-committal about any such addition.
Speaking on the sidelines of the National Film Awards ceremony in Gujarat, Nag Ashwin reportedly said that there would be no new additions in terms of characters or actors. However, he did not clarify what would happen to the character of Sumati, leaving the question of her presence in “Kalki 2” unanswered.
For now, there is no official confirmation about Sai Pallavi joining “Kalki 2”.
