Claudia Winkleman is soon to be back on the Celebrity Traitors but before that returns to screens, she will be taking on a new BBC job – and reading a CBBC bedtime story

Claudia Winkleman is set to swap secret missions, suspicious contestants and The Traitors ’ castle for a very different kind of mystery when she appears on CBeebies to read a bedtime story later this week.
The presenter will read Monkeypig, written and illustrated by Huw Aaron, for a special CBeebies Bedtime Story on Thursday – just hours before she returns to screens for the pre recorded launch of The Celebrity Traitors, with the likes of Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant.
Winkleman, 54, will once again preside over a group of famous faces as they attempt to work out who among them is secretly working against the Faithfuls.
The opening episode is set to be an extra-long instalment, airing at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer – meaning viewers will only have to wait around an hour after Claudia’s CBeebies appearance at 6.50pm to see her in her more familiar Traitors surroundings.
While there won’t be any accusations of betrayal in her bedtime tale, the story has a rather fitting theme for the presenter.
Monkeypig follows Molly, who lives happily among a group of monkeys in the jungle. But Molly is keeping a rather large secret from her new friends – she’s actually a pig.
Speaking about family life, Winkleman opened up about watching her children – Jake, 23 and Matilda, 20, grow up and said she has enjoyed every stage of motherhood.
She said: “When it comes to my kids, I’ve loved all the chapters. I love them when they are little, I love them when they are squishy, I love them when they are toddlers, I also love them when they are 23, like my eldest.”
She added: “Every little bit is a gift and I am so happy to have them. I’m looking forward to all of it. I’m really really looking forward to being a grandma. No pressure guys.”
Winkleman also joked that her children find her embarrassing, saying: “I am a deep embarrassment to my children because I’m too orange, my lipstick is too white and I wear too much black, so they find me excruciating and that’s just how it should be. I embarrass them but that’s our job. So if you find your parents embarrassing that’s good, it means they’re smashing it.”
The bedtime story will air at 6.50pm on CBeebies and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
