The true crime documentary will air a brand new episode tonight on Channel 4

The devastating murder of a mum has been dubbed a “real-life horror film” as a brand new true crime documentary will plunge viewers into the heart of the chilling investigation.
Channel 4’s hit series 999: What Happened Next has finally returned to screens with a brand new series, taking viewers beyond a call to emergency services and into a real life investigation.
Hearing first hand accounts from police officers, viewers witness real body cam and CCTV footage as they see how detectives piece together vital information to bring justice after a serious crime.
Hailed the perfect watch for fans of 24 Hours in Police Custody, another new episode will air tonight (September 28) at 9pm on Channel 4, but be warned, it will explore a deeply disturbing case.
Viewers will be taken back to October 2025 in Prestatyn, North Wales, when the body of a woman was found brutally attacked in a local woodland.
An official synopsis reads: “When a body is discovered brutally murdered in a remote nature reserve in North Wales, detectives begin a complex investigation to uncover how she came to be there.
“They quickly identified the victim as a 45-year-old woman who had been reported missing from her family home. Officers piece together her final movements and examine those closest to her.
“With a family left searching for answers, detectives follow the evidence to uncover what really happened. The answers are devastating, leaving a family destroyed.”
The episode explores the murder of Angela Shellis, who was brutally killed by her son, Tristan Roberts. The chilling instalment hears from officers involved, who were horrified by what they saw on the winter morning.
After a 999 call from a concerned worker who had found Angela’s body, DC Claire told viewers: “It was a real concern tht we might have an unknown offender roaming round and we didn’t know if it was a stranger attack or someone they knew.”
At the scene of the crime, she added: “There’s all sorts of things going through your mind up here. There’s a big trail of blood on this gravel path leading to the body and it’s just up here where the body had been dumped as if it was a piece of rubbish. It was like something out of a horror film.”
Detectives uncover some horrific truths as they investigated the murder of Angela, and what they discovered was extremely horrifying.
Elsewhere in the instalment, viewers will be taken through an investigation with West Mercia Police after a series of aggravated burglaries targeting family homes.
The official synopsis teases: “Across both cases, detectives face challenging investigations where every detail matters. Can they uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice?”
