Argos is running a gaming sales event until October 6 that’s seen Nintendo’s next-gen console drop to a record low price

Nintendo fans looking to upgrade their console can bag a big discount as Argos rivals Amazon with its latest price cut. The retailer has unveiled a new ‘special offer’ as part of its gaming event that’s seen the Nintendo Switch 2 Console fall to £354.99.
According to Argos, this marks its ‘lowest price ever’ and matches the same discount available at Amazon, where it originally cost £419.99. It’s selling fast though, with Argos highlighting the Switch 2 as its number one best seller.
Nintendo unveiled the next-gen Switch 2 in June 2025 as the successor to its flagship console. It’s the go-to gadget for hit franchises like Super Mario, Zelda and Pokémon, as well as cross-platform titles like EA Sports FC, Resident Evil and Call of Duty.
It’s also backwards compatible so gamers can play both Switch and Switch 2 games. It features a built-in 1080p handheld screen but can also connect to a TV for smooth, 4K gaming up to 120fps at 1080p.
It comes with Nintendo’s new-and-improved Joy-Con 2 controllers that snap securely in place and can also serve as a mouse with compatible games. Other key features include 256GB storage and online gaming with social Game Chat.

Argos has reduced the Nintendo Switch 2 console to its ‘lowest price ever’ in its gaming sales event.
It’s worth noting online features require an internet connection, plus Nintendo Switch Online and a Nintendo Account. Elsewhere, savvy shoppers can get their hands on a Switch 2 console without the initial outlay by setting up a monthly subscription at Raylo.
This retailer offers the console from £11.59 per month on a 36-month contract. For shoppers looking for more affordable options, the original Nintendo Switch with EA Sports FC 26 is down to £279 (was £299) at Very.
As for the Nintendo Switch 2, Argos customers have rated it highly, awarding it 4.8 stars after more than 550 reviews.
“The gaming responsiveness, quality and resolution are phenomenal,” one said. “Best gaming console I’ve ever owned and the selection of games is vast.”
Another said: “Great product, easy to set up, clear screen and good to hold.”
Despite their five-star review, the same buyer found the battery running down quicker than expected, adding: “Battery does run down a little quicker than I expected but it seems there are a number of online tips about changing settings to help the battery last longer.”
While this shopper said: “The design, compatibility with televisions and gameplay are all amazing and it’s so easy to take around with you. I ended up taking it away and it was perfect; the range of options for controllers/movement.”
