Right now, the roster at Sub Pop Records includes the Philadelphia noise-rock band Pissed Jeans and the Vancouver noise-rock band PISS. That’s synergy, baby! We need to get them together for a Monsters Of Piss tour. Despite their shared record label and their similar urine-based band names, nobody is going to confuse Pissed Jeans with PISS because they sound nothing like each other. In fact, the new song from PISS doesn’t even sound anything like the last song from PISS.
PISS will release their full-length debut you made me / skin on linen this month, and we’ve already posted the furious lead single “time loop at hot slit.” Today, they follow that song with the heavy, meditative new track “blocking a scene you can’t remember.” Over escalating slowcore guitars, bandleader Taylor Zantingh (who also co-directed the video with Nushi Sharma) delivers a bruising, powerful spoken-word freakout monologue about the lingering effects of sexual abuse.
