Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay recently took to social media to comment on the controversy surrounding Cornell University. She shared her post on the matter jointly with her organization, the Joyful Heart Foundation, which was established to support victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.

Hargitay and the Joyful Heart Foundation recently shared a post on Instagram to comment on the recently reopened 2024 Cornell University sexual assault case. In the post, the statement reads, “We refuse for this victim to be reduced to just another story. Cornell has failed to protect its students.” The post’s caption begins, “A Cornell student says she was never told the outcome of her own Title IX case, and the men she accused are back on campus.” It also adds, “The Cornell Daily Sun is demanding answers and accountability, and so are we. Survivors deserve to be believed and kept informed. Silence protects no one. To her: we support you.”
Hargitay also took to her Instagram Story to repost other statements about the allegations (via The Hollywood Reporter).
MCU star Florence Pugh also recently posted on Instagram to share her thoughts about the case. In a series of slides with text written on them, she wrote that she is “processing quietly and watching everything and everyone and every man.” Her post continued, “This is really the moment where we need our men to be as horrified and as sickened as us.“ She added, “You need to be leading conversations about how we change the allowance and complicity of this behaviour as much as we are. How can you expect us to trust that it’s ‘not all men’ when in moments like this, many of you stay quiet?” The investigation into the incident was recently reopened by the Tompkins County District Attorney’s office.
