The cast of BBC sitcom Miranda has reunited to celebrate a very special milestone, just a day before one of the stars makes her debut on the Celebrity Traitors

The Miranda cast have had a ‘mini reunion’ – such fun! 11 years after the BBC sitcom aired its final episode, the cast have come back together to celebrate a big birthday.
The comedy series followed socially inept Miranda (Miranda Hart) as she kept finding herself in awkward situations, particularly ones involving her long-time friend and crush Gary (Tom Ellis). It ran from 2009 to 2015 and earned writer and star Miranda Hart several awards and nominations, including three Royal Television Society awards and six BAFTA nominations.
Over a decade after the final episode aired, stars Miranda, Sarah Hadland, Sally Phillips and Patricia Hodge got together to celebrate Patricia’s 80th birthday.
Sharing the reunion on Instagram, Sarah, who played Miranda’s best friend Stevie, said: “Our divine dame Hodglington is 80 today. We had a mini Miranda what I call reunion: We love you so much Hodglington. You are an absolute Queen. Thank you for having us… Such fun.”

This comes just before Miranda Hart appears in the second series of the Celebrity Traitors, which airs from 1 October. The comedian is one of several stars to appear in the hit BBC show. Here’s what the entire cast of Miranda has been up to since the show ended…
Miranda Hart
Since Miranda first started airing, the writer and star of the show has done a fair bit of acting. She played Chummy in four seasons of Call the Midwife, from 2012-2015, and the same year she left the show, she appeared in comedy film Spy. Her film credits also include The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, as well as Emma, where she played Miss Bates opposite Anya Taylor-Joy’s titular Austen heroine.
But, Miranda sadly has had to stay away from the spotlight for a few years, as she has been living with chronic illness Lyme disease, which left her bed and housebound for a while. She wrote about the condition in her memoir I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, where she revealed that she had been living with the disease since she was a teenager.
This year, Miranda is agreed to take part in the Celebrity Traitors. Speaking ahead of the launch, she said: “I haven’t done much TV work for a long time, having only recently come out of long-term ill-health issues. And when I was offered this, my whole body sort of relaxed. I smiled and I just wanted to jump about like a schoolgirl with joy.”
Tom Ellis
Welsh actor Tom played Miranda’s friend and love interest Gary. Shortly after appearing in the sitcom, he found major success in America by playing the devil in fantasy series Lucifer. The series ran from 2016-2021. Tom has also had lead roles in 2024 series Tell Me Lies and CBS drama CIA.
In 2019, Tom got married to screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer. Meaghan is his second wife, as he was previously married to EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite. Alongside the two children he has with Tamzin and a daughter from an earlier relationship, Tom welcomed another daughter with Meaghan in 2023.
Sarah Hadland
After playing Miranda’s best friend Stevie, Sarah was in The Job Lot as Trish Collingwood, voiced four characters in Bob the Builder and starred as Rita in BBC series Daddy Issues.
She also participated in the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with Vito Coppola and reached the final. During her time on the show, she paid homage to Stevie by dancing an American Smooth to Heather Small’s Proud, a song her character on Miranda would regularly sing.
“I feel particularly excited to be part of such an iconic show in its 20th year,” Sarah said in a statement after she was announced for Strictly. “I’m so ready for the glitz, glam and glitter – and hopefully I can make everyone watching at home proud!”
Patricia Hodge
Birthday girl Patricia played Miranda’s overbearing mother Penny. She put the skills she learnt from that role to good use in 2015, when she played Lady Edith’s overbearing mother-in-law on Downton Abbey. Patricia also took over the role of Mrs Pumphrey in All Creatures Great And Small following the death of Diana Rigg.
Sally Phillips
Sally took on the role of Tilly in Miranda – an incredibly posh old school friend of the protagonist. Since being Tilly, Sally has played Mrs Bennet in Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, and reprised her role as Sharon, one of the three best friends in the Bridget Jones films.
Most recently, Sally lead her own BBC murder mystery, as she played Lily Petal, a hairdresser turned super sleuth in 2026 series The Hairdresser Mysteries.
