Hailey Glassman says Martha Stewart dined and dashed in front of her
Hailey Glassman has stepped fully into the spotlight now that she’s a cast member on the revamped Real Housewives of New York City, and she’s spilling all the tea. During an appearance on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, she regaled fans with her very first impression of Stewart, and it wasn’t a good one. She said she first met Stewart along with the other Housewives when the group went to the Polo Bar, Ralph Lauren’s upscale Midtown restaurant, before filming began. “Martha stopped by, and she dined and dashed, actually,” she said.
Glassman went on to explain that Stewart sat down with the group, ordered food, and then left without paying her bill, leaving the rest of the ladies to pick up the tab. The dinner included RHONY stars Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Sai De Silva and fellow newbies Daisy Toye and Erika Hammond.
How is Martha Stewart connected to ‘RHONY’?
While Glassman is a first-year Housewife, Stewart isn’t actually part of the Bravo series, at least not officially. Stewart’s connection to the group comes through Toye, who joined RHONY alongside Glassman and Hammond in Season 16 and works as Stewart’s makeup artist. Toye is also a close friend of the 85-year-old media mogul.
That friendship has earned Stewart several cameos this season. In the premiere, Stewart stopped by Toye’s apartment and critiqued her kitchen. Toye did Stewart’s makeup during the visit. In another scene, Toye called Stewart for cooking advice, and in the most recent episode, the two friends went out to eat together.
Stewart also opened the season with a memorable story about her final dinner with John F. Kennedy Jr., revealing that he had called her for advice about his political-lifestyle magazine, George. It’s unclear exactly how many cameos Stewart will make this season, but Glassman did reveal that she never personally filmed with the mogul.
A new season full of new faces
Season 16 marks a major shift for RHONY, with three newcomers joining the cast. Glassman is one of them. She is best known for her brief but explosive romance with Jon Gosselin, which led to several troubling headlines. Since then, she’s married and seems happy in a somewhat unconventional relationship. Glassman has not introduced her husband to the world and has no plans to do so.
While many fans are focused on her mysterious marriage, her Martha Stewart anecdote is drawing attention, too. Glassman is likely to garner even more interest as Season 16 progresses.
