When combining Argos’ latest discount code with TopCashback’s sign up bonus, fans of The Traitors can get the board game for less than £1
Pacing around a round table with melodramatic suspense, plotting secret betrayals (how could we forget the Joe Marler – Nick Mohammed heartbreak), and taking on high-stakes missions – oh yes, Celebrity Traitors is back on our screens on BBC1 tonight (October 1).
For any fan of the show wanting to try their dab hand at the game, going through the gruelling BBC application process for the regular Traitors isn’t necessary to experience the action. The official board game captures all the tense, savage fun of the TV hit, making for an incredibly entertaining 1.5 to 3 hours of gameplay.
I say this as a self-proclaimed board game fanatic who has played the game, and – I don’t say this lightly – the Official The Traitors board game is genuinely on par with Articulate as one of the single best party games ever played. After taking it on a weekend away recently with friends, I can confirm that it delivers all the gripping drama and round-table tension of the hit BBC show – and it can also get shockingly savage. (Though that’s half the fun, right?)
Originally £24 at Argos , shoppers can get it for less with the discount code TOYS30, which drops the price to £16.80. But there’s more – when purchasing the game via UK cashback website TopCashback, games fans can get it for less than £1.
Snagging this deal simply requires creating a free TopCashback account , here , which automatically unlocks a £15 new-member sign-up bonus. Stack that bonus with the discount code and the Argos cashback, and the total cost drops to £0.96, once cashback is applied.

Back to the game. Designed for four to six players aged 12 and up, the game unfolds over four tense rounds split into four distinct phases: Mission, Banishment, Armoury, and Murder. One player secretly acts as the Traitor, while the rest play as Faithfuls – plus, someone gets the joy of taking on the flamboyant role of host Claudia Winkleman (iconic fringe optional).
Just like on TV, Faithfuls must team up during missions to build a shared prize fund of gold coins before raiding the armoury for rewards and ‘life-saving’ protective shields. Then comes the real test of friendship: a heated Banishment phase in which players hurl accusations and evidence, immediately followed by the tense, silent dread of the Murder phase.
When the final round wraps up, the two players boasting the most gold coins face off for the prize fund – though their true identities as Traitor or Faithful remain a total mystery. It’s intense and utter chaos – but endless fun, even if the four-to-six-player limit means players have to team up – which is just as good.
For bigger gatherings, another personal favourite is Herd Mentality (£18.99, Amazon). The premise, in essence, couldn’t be simpler: guess what everyone else will write. The host asks a random question, everyone scribbles an answer in secret, and anyone in the majority earns points (in the form of literal cows). However, the odd one out gets saddled with the dreaded Pink Cow, which freezes their entire score until someone else takes the hit.
Another fantastic option for three to eight players that captures the same paranoid, deceitful vibe as The Traitors is The Chameleon (£19.99). One secret player has zero clue what the topic is, but has to bluff their way through to avoid getting caught.
Everyone receives a card—either a secret code-breaker or the blank Chameleon card. The dealer reveals a public Topic Card packed with secret words and rolls two dice. Using the coordinate numbers on their cards, the innocent players locate the secret target word, leaving the Chameleon completely in the dark.
Going around the room, each player gives a single, subtle clue related to the secret word. The Chameleon’s goal is to pick up on the pattern and blend in without giving themselves away. What follows is a hilarious, high-tension interrogation as everyone picks apart each other’s word choices before casting a final vote.
Fans of The Traitors game have been left pleasantly surprised by how well the TV has adapted, with one glowing review stating: “Very enjoyable It is quite surprising how a television programme adapts so well from the screen and gives hours of entertainment.”
Someone else agreed and said: “I bought this game about a month ago fantastic game for all the family whatever the age it brings to life all the drama of the television programme into the home.”
A third remarked: “Bought as a gift and we love it! Great game for anyone who likes the traitors, or just anyone who loves a bit of murder mystery.”
It’s important to note that some people found the instructions a smidge complex, while someone else wasn’t too keen on certain challenges (spoiler) requiring a bit of a scavenger hunt. They said: “Incredibly complex, not a table game either as it involves running round the house collecting things.”
Personally, I found this to be a really fun element of it.
