Closing date confirmed for Leicestershire B&Q store after 26 years of trading

The DIY giant has confirmed when the branch will shut for good

The closing date for a B&Q store in a Leicestershire town has been confirmed.

The store, in Bull Head Street, Wigston, has served the community for 26 years but will soon shut its doors for the final time.

A company spokesperson said the lease at the location has expired and that the landlord “does not intend” to renew it. This means the store will close.

B&Q has now confirmed it will shut at 4pm on Saturday (October 3). Customers are being pointed towards B&Q Leicester, LE4 0BG, and B&Q Hinckley, LE10 1HN.

The closure was first revealed in June, when no specific date was given. Rumours had been swirling online about the store’s future at the time.

A B&Q spokesperson said then: “We are currently consulting with affected colleagues and our priority is to support them through this period of change, while continuing to explore alternative premises in the area.”
