I went to Next and found a ‘light and stylish’ autumn jacket

It comes in a gorgeous chocolate brown colour and I love the fit

It’s approaching that time of year where the leaves are falling off the trees and crisping beneath your feet. As a slight chill in the air approaches and you’re an autumn lover like me, you’re bound to be very excited.

There’s something so effortless about autumn fashion, from the earthy colour palettes to the cosy and warm big coats. Autumn fashion has always been my absolute favourite, and I’ve always had a slight obsession with jackets for the season.

From suede options to faux leather, there’s already so much to choose from on the high street. After recently taking a trip to my local Next store, I spotted the most gorgeous jacket that I know I need to buy come payday.

In a stylish oversized fit, the £62 Chocolate Brown Faux Leather Button Through Jacket comes in a stunning chocolate brown colour which is most definitely a popular option for autumn 2026. Next describes the jacket as ‘sophisticating’ and ‘edgy’ at the same time, tailored with a formal collared neckline and sleek button-front detailing.

It’s quite long, combining a classic structure with a smooth faux leather and a slight shine. It has deep front patch pockets and isn’t too heavy or bulky for those milder autumn days.

As soon as I slipped into this jacket I was in love, it was so soft against my skin and really lightweight. I’d definitely say there are more practical autumnn jackets out there that offer a proper weatherproof thickness, but for fashion purposes, this jacket is golden.

It gives off that ‘effortlessly expensive’ vibe and feels softer than a harsh black leather, and can be worn for an array of different occasion from the office to drinks. I don’t think this jacket is just fit for autumn wear either, it could easily be worn in spring next year thanks to its lightweight design as we transition into the warmer months.

In terms of pairing the jacket with outfits, you really can’t go wrong with dark wash jeans and a t-shirt for a casual look. If you’re wanting to go full autumn, opt for a burgundy or red jumper with a plaid skirt and ankle boots with gold jewellery.

I’m usually a size ‘M’ in most jackets, and sometimes even size up to get a bigger fit, but the ‘S’ for me was just right, still offering that slightly oversized look. At the time of writing, there are three reviews for the jacket on the Next website, with one negative review reflecting the sizing.

One shopper said: “This is such a nice jacket I can’t wait to wear it when the cold weather comes in.”

A second review read: “Unfortunately had to return- I ordered XS, but it was big and I had to return.”

A third shopper added: “Love this jacket. Would size down. Am a 16/18 and the large was too big. Medium is perfect.”

In other fashion news, if you want something thicker for the colder months, Roman has reduced this Dusk Chevron Wrap Quilted Puffer Coat originally priced at £85 down to £55 saving shoppers 35% off at the time of writing. It features a self-tie belt to really cinch you in at the waist.

If you’d rather a peacoat style, we’ve found another deal over on the Karen Millen website that’s not to be missed. This Tailored Brushed Wool Double Breasted Short Pea Coat was originally priced at £299 and has been knocked down to £105.
