10 Strongest Non-Canon Dragon Ball Characters, Ranked

10 Strongest Non-Canon Dragon Ball Characters, Ranked

Dragon Ball remains an evergreen classic after over four decades of groundbreaking storytelling that fearlessly tackles new challenges and greater threats. This exciting shonen series has evolved into a sprawling franchise that’s full of entertaining, yet often non-canon offshoots and expansions, like movies, video games, and OVAs, some of which even hold their own with the main series.

These plentiful non-canonical Dragon Ball stories helped keep the franchise alive during the manga and anime’s dark years. They’re responsible for introducing some compelling and creative characters who have become fan-favorites, even if they’re not part of the official timeline. At this point, there’s a rich and expanding world of non-canon characters who represent peak power in this franchise.

Janemba Is A Demonic Manifestation Of Evil Who Can Rewrite Reality

Dragon Ball Z‘s feature films establish a successful formula where there’s a progressively stronger antagonist at the center of each movie. Fusion Reborn isn’t the anime’s final film, but its antagonist is still stronger than Wrath of the Dragon‘s Hirudegarn, due to the movie’s emphasis on fusion. Hirudegarn and Janemba can hold their own with Super Saiyan 3 strength, yet the latter’s transformation into Super Janemba makes him considerably more dangerous.

His reality distortion abilities become more advanced, and he’s equipped with an intimidating weapon — his Dimension Sword. Goku and Vegeta need to use the fusion dance to become Gogeta in order to eliminate this threat, who is purified with their Stardust Breaker attack. Super Dragon Ball Heroes‘ Universe Creation Saga also features an even stronger transformation, like Black Janemba, after Dr. Wheelo infuses him with Super Saiyan 4 power.

Super 17 Is A Malevolent Union Between Two Totemic Machines

Super 17 is one of Dragon Ball GT‘s most hated villains, yet his strength is undeniable. This fusion between Dr. Gero’s Android 17 and Dr. Myuu’s Hell Fighter 17 results in an extremely intense warrior whose power gives Super Saiyan 4 Goku pause. This powerful Android easily defeats Vegeta, Majuub, Goten, Gohan, and Trunks, while his Shocking Death Ball delivers cataclysmic destruction.

Curiously, Super 17 has energy-absorption sensors that are found in older Android models. This means that his power can reach even greater heights when he’s stealing others’ energy, but he’s locked in place and immobile during this process. Goku takes advantage of this weakness and uses his Dragon Fist technique to destroy the Android while he’s busy absorbing Android 18’s non-stop barrage of energy blasts.

Dragon Ball GT‘s final story arc, the Shadow Dragon Saga, challenges Goku with seven evil manifestations of past Dragon Ball wishes. It’s a really powerful way for the franchise to look at humanity’s reliance on wishes to fix their mistakes. Each Shadow Dragon is basically a Super Saiyan 4-level threat. However, Syn Shenron consumes the corrupted Dragon Balls and ascends to Omega Shenron status.

Not only is he more powerful in this state, but he also has access to all the other Shadow Dragons’ abilities. He’s left with a litany of elemental powers that include a major healing and regeneration factor. Omega Shenron overwhelms a two-on-one strike from Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta that pushes them to become Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. This final villain, whose Negative Karma Ball threatens to destroy the entire galaxy, is finally defeated by Goku’s Super Ultra Spirit Bomb.

Shallot Is An Ancient Saiyan Whose Fated Destiny Rewards Him With Godly Gains

Dragon Ball Legends is a mobile game that centers around a time-displaced martial arts tournament that assembles the strongest characters from different timelines. The game’s protagonist is Shallot, an ancient Saiyan who finds himself participating in the Tournament of Time. He, along with his twin brother Giblet, were both designed by Akira Toriyama specifically for the game.

Many of the franchise’s biggest moments are reimagined with Shallot as the savior, which leads to him progressively gaining greater Super Saiyan strength until he’s reached Super Saiyan Blue status. This non-canon character’s recent inclusion in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has some fans hopeful that there’s a lot more of Shallot in the series’ future.

Cumber’s Evil Saiyan Energy Turns Him Into A Primordial Powerhouse

Cumber, an ancient Saiyan who resembles Broly’s burly physique, is a crucial character in the promotional anime, Super Dragon Ball Heroes. This “Evil Saiyan” is introduced during the Prison Planet Saga as a berserker brawler whose base form alone matches Vegito Blue and Jiren’s power. Fu keeps this aggressive warrior in a power-restricting jacket, but his corrupting dark ki and evil aura trigger terrifying transformations like Golden Great Ape and Full Power Super Saiyan 3.

Despite his strongest form being capped at Super Saiyan 3, Cumber can still confidently take on Super Saiyan 4 Vegito, Ultra Instinct Goku, and Limit Breaker Super Saiyan 4 Broly. The ancient dark energy that courses through his body turns him into an overwhelming weapon of destruction.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes introduces some powerful players who oppose the multiverse’s established rules, which leads to some exciting and extreme showdowns. Hearts, for instance, staunchly opposes Zeno’s ways of running the multiverse and seeks to liberate mortals from this rigidity. Rising to power in the promo anime’s Universal Conflict Saga, Hearts’ base power is already superior to some of the franchise’s heaviest hitters, like Hit and Jiren.

He possesses impressive gravity manipulation powers and the ability to read minds so that he can predict attacks before they happen. As Super Hearts, this powerful God Hater’s power surpasses Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta. If this wasn’t enough, he can evolve into Perfect Hearts — the Ultimate Godslayer — when he absorbs the divine Universe Seed. He believes that he’s able to take out Zeno with this new power, but he’s ultimately defeated by Gogeta Blue’s Limit Ultra Kamehameha.

Aeos Is A Former Supreme Kai Of Time Who Can Eradicate Entire Timelines & Keep Up With Divine Beings

There’s a really terrifying concept behind Aeos, a disillusioned former Supreme Kai of Time who decides to prune unnecessary timelines in order to devise a definitive “true history.” Aeos once held power above Chronoa, Mechikabura, and Demgigra, who were all interested in the Supreme Kai of Time title. Aeos is responsible for hosting the Super Space-Time Tournament, which becomes subterfuge for her apocalyptic aims.

As her Supreme Kai of Time status dictates, Aeos benefits from incredible time manipulation powers. She’s capable of stopping and reversing time, but she can also delete entire timelines with zero difficulty. It’s a level of power that’s difficult to truly comprehend. In her Time Power Unleashed state, she’s not just superior to the current Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa, but she’s on par with Ultra Instinct Sign Goku.

Demigra Is A Destructive Demon God Who Wants To Erase History & Start Anew

Introduced as Dragon Ball Xenoverse‘s central villain before becoming a consistent nuisance in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Demigra is a vengeful Demon God who is partially responsible for the Demon Realm’s creation. His wicked efforts to overthrow Chronoa and become the new God of Time lead to his imprisonment for over 75 million years in the Crack of Time pocket dimension before he’s released by Towa and Mira.

Dark King Demigra outclasses all who oppose him, including other prolific players, like Aeos. A three-way Kamehameha from Super Saiyan 2 Future Warrior in Black, Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, and Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Bardock finally takes out Time Power Unleashed Demigra.

Mechikabura Is Dragon Ball’s True Dark King & An Immortal Menace To The Time Patrol

Mechikabura, an ancient Demon who is over 80 million years old, functions like a more powerful version of Demigra. Both disgraced Demons have a similar backstory, yet Mechikabura’s reign of destructive terror manages to go much further. He doesn’t just successfully restore his youth and peak dark magic abilities, but he also essentially becomes immortal through his intense healing factor.

As a Dark King, he easily takes on Demigra, Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks, and the collective forces of the Time Patrol. However, Time Power Unleashed Mechikabura absorbs all time and history, which leads to the multiverse temporarily ceasing to exist. Xeno Trunks’ Key Sword manages to revert the villain’s power so that he’s taken down by Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Vegito. Otherwise, his goal of rewriting and ruling the multiverse would have come to pass.

Fu Is A Renegade Demon Scientist Who Seeks To Create A New Universe

After cutting his teeth in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, the full brunt of Fu’s wicked ways and extreme strength are experienced in Super Dragon Ball Heroes. A Bio-Android Demon who is created from Mira and Towa’s DNA, he’s blessed with both brains, grawn, and drastic space-time manipulation powers. His Time Cutter sword can both slice through the fabric of reality, but also create portals to new dimensions.

This phenomenal threat’s base form is already stronger than Demigra, Golden Great Ape Cumber, and Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Goku, while Super Fu clears Golden Cooler, yet struggles against Vegito Blue and Super Full Power Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker Xeno Vegito. These weaknesses are overcome when he transforms into a Dark King, which allows him to keep up with these fused Saiyan powerhouses. At peak power, after Dark King Fu has absorbed Dogidogi, it’s predicted that his power is on par with Zeno the Omni-King, which is something that no other character, canon or non-canon, has ever accomplished.

The cast of Dragon Ball Z, including characters such as Son Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo, among others, leaps towards the camera in the poster for the show.
