Jim Carrey has spent the last several years talking openly about how much he enjoys his quiet life away from Hollywood. A significant part of that life has unfolded in Hawaii, where the legendary comedian and actor has maintained a spectacular oceanfront estate on Maui.
Now he’s apparently ready to say goodbye to it. Carrey has listed his nearly one-acre property on Maui’s Keawakapu Beach for $35 million.
The listing arrived at an especially interesting moment. Just hours earlier, news broke that the 64-year-old “Ace Ventura” and “Dumb and Dumber” star had secretly married his longtime partner, Min Ah, in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles.
There’s no indication that the wedding and the real-estate listing are directly connected. But taken together, they certainly make this a fairly eventful week in the normally very private Jim Carrey household.
A $35 Million Slice Of Maui
Jim bought his Maui home in November 2016 for $16.5 million. Carrey’s property sits directly on Keawakapu Beach, one of South Maui’s most desirable stretches of coastline. The estate occupies nearly an acre and features roughly 170 feet of beach frontage.
The three-bedroom, five-bathroom main residence spans more than 4,000 square feet and was built in 2002. Unlike many ultra-modern celebrity homes, Carrey’s Maui estate leans heavily into a tropical Hawaiian aesthetic, with a massive thatched roof, Douglas fir framing, woven bamboo interiors, and large spaces designed to open toward the ocean.
The great room flows directly onto a covered stone lanai. Upstairs, the primary suite features glass panels that fold back to a private deck overlooking the sand and Pacific Ocean.

There’s Also A Separate Guest House
The property includes a separate guest house containing two additional bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The guest residence has its own lanai and balcony facing the ocean, giving visitors a level of privacy that goes well beyond the typical spare-bedroom setup.
Between the two residences is a freeform swimming pool with a hidden grotto, slide, lounging ledge, and elevated spa. The grounds also feature a broad green lawn, towering coconut palms, and direct access to the beach.
According to the listing, the estate was designed by architecture firm Ike Kligerman Barkley and is being offered fully furnished. For a buyer with $35 million to spend, much of Carrey’s tropical retreat could effectively come turnkey.
Carrey Has Increasingly Retreated From Hollywood
The Maui property fits neatly into the lifestyle Carrey has described for years. After spending decades as one of Hollywood’s most famous and highly paid actors, he has gradually pulled away from the industry’s relentless pace and devoted more time to painting, writing, spirituality, and a generally quieter existence.
In 2018, Carrey described his life in Maui as an “isolated life” and made clear that he enjoyed spending long stretches of time alone. Four years later, while promoting “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” he said he was “fairly serious” about retiring from acting and explained, “I really like my quiet life.”
His retirement obviously wasn’t absolute. He later returned to play Dr. Robotnik in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” but his comments made clear that the days when Jim Carrey felt compelled to make movie after movie were long gone.
That’s understandable. Carrey has a net worth of $180 million and has earned more than $300 million from movie salaries, bonuses, and profit participation over the course of his career.
At his peak, he was regularly earning $20 million or more per movie. In 1996, he became the first actor in Hollywood history to command a $20 million upfront salary when he signed on for “The Cable Guy,” helping establish a new salary benchmark for A-list movie stars.
He Already Sold His Longtime Los Angeles Estate
The Maui listing also comes after Carrey closed another major chapter in his real-estate portfolio. For nearly three decades, Jim owned an enormous compound in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.
He bought the original property for $3.8 million in 1994, the same year “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “The Mask,” and “Dumb and Dumber” transformed him into one of the biggest movie stars on earth. In 2000, he expanded the estate by paying another $1.7 million for an adjoining parcel.
The resulting roughly two-acre compound featured more than 10,000 square feet of living space, along with a swimming pool, tennis court, guesthouse, Art Deco-style movie theater, art gallery, wine cellar, and separate yoga and meditation pavilion.
Carrey put the Brentwood estate on the market in February 2023 for $28.9 million. Finding a buyer proved difficult, and the asking price eventually fell to $26.5 million, then $23.95 million, $21.9 million, and finally $19.75 million. The home ultimately sold for $17 million. And He Just Secretly Got Married
As if listing a $35 million beachfront estate weren’t enough major life news, Carrey’s Maui property hit the market almost immediately after the world learned that he had married his longtime partner, Min Ah.
The couple quietly wed in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles. Carrey’s representative confirmed the marriage, but the couple has not disclosed the exact date or venue.
Carrey and Min Ah have kept their relationship almost entirely out of the spotlight. One of their rare public appearances came at the César Awards in Paris earlier in 2026, where Carrey accepted an honorary award and publicly thanked Min Ah, calling her his “sublime companion.”
The marriage is Carrey’s third. He was previously married to Melissa Womer, with whom he shares daughter Jane, and to his “Dumb and Dumber” co-star Lauren Holly.
