The unusually low-key promotions for Jailer 2 have reportedly become a talking point in industry circles. Unlike the usual frenzy surrounding a Superstar Rajinikanth film, the makers appear to be deliberately keeping the publicity under control.
According to industry buzz, the reason is simple: they do not want to repeat what happened with Coolie. The film was surrounded by massive hype and expectations even before its release, and that reportedly worked against it at the box office.
The makers of Jailer 2 are therefore said to believe that excessive promotion can sometimes create unrealistic expectations and eventually hurt a film.
Interestingly, the trailer itself is said to be hiding several major surprises.
The de-aging portions featuring Rajinikanth, Mohanlal and Shiv Rajkumar, along with the reported appearances of Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi, have been kept under wraps. These elements are apparently being saved for the theatrical experience.
The makers are said to be planning a major publicity push only during the final four days before release. Until then, they intend to maintain a relatively low profile.
Another interesting point is that Rajinikanth has reportedly watched the film before moving on to his next shoot, while the producer is said to be confident about the final output.
So, the silence around Jailer 2 appears to be part of a carefully planned strategy to control expectations and let the film speak for itself.
