James Corden and Ruth Jones are reuniting for a brand new TV series – and it sounds every bit as wholesome as their mega-hit Gavin and Stacey.
The pair have created and will star in The Choir for Apple TV, playing estranged siblings, Ben and Lisa, who try to mend their relationship and join a struggling choir when they are thrown back together after events take a sorry turn.
Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy, and Jim Broadbent will appear in guest roles alongside supporting cast members including Tom Davis, Rosie Sheehy, Jason Watkins, and David Harewood.
Last year, it was reported that Corden and Jones – who played Smithy and Nessa in Gavin & Stacey – had signed a multi-million-pound deal to create a new project for Apple.
They most recently reprised their Gavin & Stacey roles for the beloved sitcom’s 2024 Christmas special. The episode became the UK’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters and streamers since records began in 2002.
Gavin & Stacey, which follows the lives of Gavin and Stacey Shipman (Joanna Page and Mathew Horne) and their families, originally ran for three seasons between 2007 and 2010, returning for special festive episodes in later years.

At the 2025 Hay Festival of Literature and Arts in May, Jones and Corden said the much-loved programme is never coming back because they’re “too proud” of the existing episodes.
“It’s just absolutely the right decision,” Jones said of the series’s conclusion. “It’s been the most glorious journey, 17 years. We’re so lucky to have the friendships that we formed and the experiences together.”
Melanie Walters, who played Stacey’s mother, Gwen, in the show, is currently a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
