It’s official: Transformers is returning to its roots on the big screen, bringing back the filmmakers that made the sci-fi action property a multi-billion-dollar film series.
According to Deadline, Paramount has officially put Steven Spielberg in charge of the creative direction of the next Transformers film, while also continuing his executive producer role alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Spielberg has been a longtime producer of the live-action films, but will now directly “focus on all creative aspects” for the next installment. The outlet also reports that Michael Bay is in early talks to return to helm the eighth Transformers title, a development that has been rumored for quite some time.
