Sebastian Stan Teases Batman Part 2 Role, Wishes for Captain America

While still an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan is testing out the waters of another comic book-inspired universe in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II.

The Bucky Barnes actor is rumored to be playing Gotham City district attorney (and future Two-Face) Harvey Dent in the Robert Pattinson-fronted sequel.

Sebastian Stan Teases Harvey Dent Role in The Batman: Part II

“I think it’s a very ambitious thing and hope it lands right,” Stan said during a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast “I have a lot of faith in it because I feel like Matt is truly like a genius of our time. One of the very few people that is so unique, so specific, and has been at this for three years. It’s not an accident. He knows what he’s doing. I’m just happy to be part of that vision because I do feel like it’s ambitious and I think it’s gonna be great.”

His current aim in taking roles is to find projects that really push him as an actor rather than make him complacent.

“I don’t know anymore how to not get involved in something that’s not challenging or a real departure in a lot of ways,” Stan continued. “And I would say that this is, definitely for me, feeling like something very different than I’ve gotten to do. That’s what I love and I’m excited about. I think at the end of the day, that’s what it should be. I just want to keep trying to do different things, and at some point I’m gonna face plant. Maybe this will be it, but so far so good.”

Sebastian Stan Expresses Desires to Play Captain America

During the appearance on the podcast, he also expressed a desire to take up the shield one day in the MCU.

“I always bring it up. Even the Captain America thing, I bring it up,” he said. “I’m like, whenever — sorry, Anthony (Mackie)— I’m like, whenever, let’s go. I’m just saying, I’m ready man. I’m at that sweet spot where I can still do some of it. It’s really more in terms of the actions bits that you want to do.”

The aforementioned captain, played by Anthony Mackie, took up the shield after Chris Evans’ character departed from the timeline to be with his true love Peggy Carter.

However, it’s looking like we’re going to see Chris return as Steve Rogers in the highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.

When Does The Batman: Part II Come Out?

Written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman: Part II is currently slated for release on Feb. 18, 2028.

In addition to Stan and Pattinson, the movie also stars Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon), Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb/Penguin), Jayme Lawson (Gotham City Mayor Bella Reál), Scarlett Johansson (Gilda Dent) Charles Dance (Charles Dent) and, potentially, Barry Keoghan (Joker).

Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs. Kong) and Sebastian Koch (Homeland) are also set to appear, though their characters have yet to be announced.
