The first season followed Garner as Hollis Shaw, a widow grieving the recent death of her husband. In a bid to move forward with her life, she invites four friends to her Nantucket beach house for a weekend, envisioning a perfect, five-star stay. Things quickly go awry as personalities clash and big, emotional plot twists throw the characters’ worlds askew. Garner was joined by D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall and Chloë Sevigny, who play Hollis’s friends from different seasons of her life, in addition to Harlow Jane as her daughter and Timothy Olyphant as an old flame.
