Mood Of AP: YS Jagan Leads CM Race

A recent “Mood of Andhra Pradesh” survey dated August 20, 2026, conducted by the IITians Group Hyderabad, has revealed an interesting picture of public preference for the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The survey asked respondents whom they would like to see as the next CM after the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to the figures, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy leads the preference chart with 44 percent support. Nara Chandrababu Naidu stands second with 32 percent. Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan gets 6 percent, while Nara Lokesh receives 5 percent support.

Meanwhile, 2 percent of respondents opted for “Others,” while 11 percent said they could not say whom they preferred.

The numbers indicate a significant lead for Jagan over Chandrababu in this particular survey, with a 12-percentage-point gap between the two leaders.

However, these figures should be viewed only as a snapshot of public sentiment at this stage and not as a prediction of the eventual election result.

Political alliances, governance, campaign strategies, local issues and changing voter preferences could significantly influence the final outcome.

Still, the survey provides an interesting indication of the current mood in Andhra Pradesh with huge anti incumbency in place.
