The place looks like it was left in a hurry, and she begins to panic, searching frantically to find him. The scene culminates in a sudden jump scare from a masked neighbor looking for a Halloween party.
Still within the opening five minutes but set some time later, the mood becomes tragic when it is revealed that she subsequently discovered her source had hanged himself in the apartment. This grim discovery immediately sets the tone for the wickedly dark humor that is woven throughout the mystery thriller.
