Second-in-command to Megatron, Starscream is one of the most recognizable faces in the Transformers. Most people think that’s entirely because of his ability to play politics and manipulate situations. However, he became the leader of the Decepticon Seekers because he’s not only one of the fastest Decepticons, but also one of the most powerful. He’s just as responsible for wiping out parts of the Autobot army as anyone else on the Decepticon side.
Yet even Starscream has his limits, and there are Autobots he wouldn’t stand a chance against. Some of the most talented Autobots wield the experience and weaponry necessary to cut down even a high-class Decepticon warrior like Starscream. Most importantly, in tests of pure strength, these ‘bots would outclass him easily, forcing him to make a hasty retreat.
Springer Is One Of The Most Deadly Members Of The Triple Changers
Springer isn’t one of the Autobots people think about first when they think about powerful warriors. Introduced in Transformers: The Movie, he isn’t as popular, so people don’t think of him. However, he was one of the key warriors who helped the Autobots when they were attacked at Autobot City. While several key warriors were struck down, Springer stood tall and helped them survive.
Springer is a Triple Changer, meaning he has not one, but two different alternate forms: a car form and a helicopter form. His ability to fly neutralizes the challenge that most flying Decepticons might have, like Starscream. Beyond that, his main cannon is capable of producing massive wind tunnels, while his helicopter blade can be used as a lightsaber in robot form.
Even Optimus Prime acknowledges Springer as one of the strongest of the Autobot Triple Changers, and he’s backed it up by being leader of the Wreckers, one of the most dangerous Autobot groups around, short of the Dinobots. One of the Autobots with the best potential to become a leader, he’s also foiled Starscream’s plans several times in different universes. Springer’s even been considered to take on the Matrix of Leadership before, meaning the Autobots viewed him with enough reverence to take on the best the Decepticons have to offer.
Omega Supreme Is A Guardian Robot Working For The Autobots
One of the oldest Autobots, Omega Supreme is almost a cheat code for the team. A giant with an almost impenetrable frame, Omega Supreme is a robot of few words. Despite his power, he’s rarely on the front lines, instead often used as the last line of defense against the Decepticon forces. It doesn’t help that his size means he requires far more Energon than other warriors, meaning he can only be at full strength in specific, isolated incidents.
Omega Supreme is outfitted for battle with any Decepticon, boasting a claw arm that can lift over 300,000 tons at once. Meanwhile, his other hand has a plasma blaster that matches the laser cannon on his head. With these weapons, Omega Supreme has battled some powerful members of the Decepticon army, from other giants like Astrotrain to combiners like Devastator. In nearly every conflict, Omega came out on top.

In terms of raw strength, there’s no comparison between Omega Supreme and Starscream. Supreme has battled more than Starscream in the past, forcing them to flee when it comes to direct combat. The only real chance Starscream has is coming up with a plan before they battle, which has allowed the wily Decepticon to walk away the victor beforehand. Nonetheless, in direct conflict, Starscream would rather flee than fight, even if he has the combined might of the Decepticon Seekers behind him.
Sky Lynx Is The Only Autobot Whose Ego Could Match Starscream
Not every Autobot has to be a humble paragon of virtue. Sky Lynx is willing to fight for the Autobot cause, but he’s also not afraid to tell anyone who will listen how much better he is than the average Autobot. Most of his Generation 1 appearances are full of him boasting about how great he is. However, given Sky Lynx can back it up, it’s not exactly the wrong position.
A lieutenant commander in the Autobot army, Sky Lynx is one of the rare Cybertronians that doesn’t have a traditional robot mode. Instead, he’s a space shuttle that can transform into two different forms: one that’s more of a pterodactyl, and another ground vehicle that resembles a lynx. Sky Lynx boasts a reinforced shell capable of withstanding re-entry, meaning he can withstand high temperatures and massive attacks. He can also breathe 3000-degree flames and move at dozens of times the speed of sound.
Sky Lynx has Starscream beat, both in terms of raw strength and speed. In the past, he’s shown he can battle multiple Decepticons at once and come out on top. He was even able to take on the Combaticons in combat with ease, even with energy dampeners holding back his full strength. As good as Starscream is, he’s not among the Decepticons that are capable of taking out Sky Lynx in battle.
Grimlock Is A Brutally Efficient Warrior That Could Take Any Decepticon
Grimlock is one of the most fearsome Autobots of any timeline. His strength and ruthlessness in battle made him the leader of the Dinobots, one of the best groups the Autobots have. If not for the cowardice that some of the Decepticons fight with, Grimlock might have found himself as a member of the Decepticons himself.
As hinted by the name, Grimlock doesn’t have a traditional vehicle mode. Instead, he transforms into a mechanical Tyrannosaurus Rex, with the ability to snap plenty of bots in half between his jaws. In his robot form, his main weapons are his energo-sword and rocket launcher, which let him take enemies out of the skies.
Grimlock isn’t just stronger than Starscream; he’s able to compete with both Megatron and Optimus Prime. In fact, he’s challenged both on multiple occasions because he doesn’t respect their strength enough. The only real question is whether Starscream can use his speed to overwhelm Grimlock, but since that doesn’t work on Megatron or Optimus, it wouldn’t work on Grimlock either. He’s even been able to pull Starscream out of the skies before. Plus, Starscream’s skill of deception would absolutely fail against Grimlock.
Optimus Prime Is The Equal Of The One Decepticon Starscream Could Never Defeat
As the commander of the Autobots, Optimus Prime has always been considered one of their strongest members. It’s only natural, as, regardless of how good a leader he is, he needs power to compete with someone as deadly as Megatron. Fortunately, in most continuities, he’s already an incredibly talented warrior even before he’s elected leader. In others, the Matrix of Leadership transforms the kind Autobot into the kind of warrior he needs to become to fight the Decepticons.
Unlike a lot of Cybertronians, Optimus doesn’t really rely on a ton of weapons. He wields a powerful ion blaster rifle that he’s used to great effect against his enemies. In close combat, he can generate an energon axe or an energon mace to fight his enemies, and that’s generally more than enough to take someone down. He’s often trusted to take on multiple enemies and lead the Autobots to victory even when everyone else is already down and out.
That said, Optimus also has more powers depending on the continuity. In many continuities, he can merge with his trailer to gain an additional boost in strength and firepower, making him even more powerful than usual. Regardless, in every continuity, he’s battled against Decepticon combiners like Devastator and taken them down without help, which is far more than Starscream can claim. But the biggest reason Optimus is stronger is that he’s always been Megatron’s opposite number, and Starscream has never been able to fully defeat Megatron.
