Sunday Brunch viewers may have noticed something different when the Channel 4 show began this morning
Sunday Brunch fans were greeted by a surprise presenter shake-up.
Viewers who tuned into the Channel 4 hit show today’s (August 30) show, were joined by Yinka Bokinni, who stepped in for Tim Lovejoy and presented alongside Simon Rimmer.
Opening the programme, Simon introduced himself before Yinka revealed she was standing in for the show’s regular host.
“I’m Simon Rimmer,” he said. Yinka then added: “And I’m Yinka Bokinni standing in for Tim Lovejoy.” The pair quickly moved on to reveal the guests and entertainment lined up for the morning.
Viewers can expect music from legendary singer Paul Heaton, while actress Su Pollard is appearing to discuss her memoir.
GK Barry is also on the guest list to talk about her new book, alongside appearances from Everlast, Gary Wilmot, Anita-Joy Uwajeh and Casualty star Elinor Lawless, who opened up about the soap’s 40th anniversary special.
The unexpected change will have caught the attention of regular Sunday Brunch viewers, with Rimmer and Lovejoy having become one of television’s longest-running presenting partnerships.
The pair first worked together on Something for the Weekend before going on to front Sunday Brunch when it launched on Channel 4 in 2012.
Their partnership has continued for well over a decade on the Channel 4 programme, making Lovejoy’s absence from Sunday’s show particularly noticeable. Yinka, meanwhile, is no stranger to broadcasting and has built a career across radio and television.
She has worked as a radio presenter and has appeared across a number of TV programmes, becoming known for her lively presenting style and entertainment coverage.
She has also appeared on Sunday Brunch, making her a familiar face to viewers as she took over Lovejoy’s presenting duties.
Despite the change in the line-up, the programme continued with its usual mix of celebrity interviews, music, food, and entertainment.
Neither Simon nor Yinka gave an explanation on air for Lovejoy’s absence, with Yinka simply confirming at the start of the show that she was standing in for him.
For today’s viewers, it meant a slightly different Sunday Brunch, with Rimmer joined by Yinka as the pair welcomed a star-studded selection of guests to the Channel 4 studio.
Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday from 10am on Channel 4
