Football fans visiting the CBS Arena will be able to enjoy a brand new beverage from a former Coventry City hero.

Dion Dublin became a fan favourite at Highfield Road in the 1990s thanks to his prowess in front of goal – his scoring efforts often singlehandedly kept the Sky Blues in the Premier League. But his time at the club ended acrimoniously when he left abruptly for arch rivals Aston Villa.

This led to the striker becoming a disliked figure among some of the Sky Blue faithful, though many still remember him fondly for the good he did at the club.

In what can only be described as fortuitous timing, he recently issued an apology to Coventry fans for the nature of his departure.

No doubt he will be hopeful of winning over those still unhappy at his 1998 exit with a brand new spiced rum named 52North that has gone on sale at Coventry City’s home ground.

The move will see the Coventry Building Society Arena become the first stadium to serve the rum from a company co-owned by Dublin.

52North rum will initially be available across the premium lounges at the Arena, with the range set to be trialled in other areas of the venue during football matches, conferences, exhibitions and other major events.

Launched in 2024, 52North has grown into an award-winning independent drinks brand, with Dublin joining as a Co-Owner in 2026.

Its range features three British-made and triple-distilled drinks including No:08 Spiced Rum, Yuzu Lime Rum Liqueur and Chocolate Caramel Rum Liqueur.

Lee McCabe, Bars Manager at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We are always looking for new products which can strengthen the Arena’s food and drink range and level-up the experience.

“It has been great to work with Dion and Gemma to bring the 52North range to the Arena. We will initially serve it in our premium lounges before looking at opportunities to introduce it elsewhere across the venue.

“The quality of the rum speaks for itself and Dion’s connection to the Sky Blues makes the timing of its arrival at the Arena particularly fitting as we enter an incredible exciting period.

“We are pleased to be the first stadium to serve this rum and look forward to introducing it to our guests before exploring opportunities to make the range available more widely across the venue.”

Dublin said: “52North started two years ago and securing our first stadium listing is an important moment for the business. For that milestone to come in Coventry, a city which played such an important part in my career, is fantastic.

“I genuinely love the rum. The spiced rum is smooth enough to drink on its own and, for me, that is how a good rum should be enjoyed.

“We have always wanted the rum to speak for itself. Visitors to the Arena will now be able to try it and make up their own minds.”
