Rebecca Ferguson's 3-Part Sci-Fi Thriller Masterpiece Is Officially One of the Biggest Shows in the World

Rebecca Ferguson might be gearing up for her next sci-fi hit on the big screen — that being Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which releases on Dec 18 — but it’s the actress’s small-screen sci-fi adventure that’s currently taking over on streaming. Rebecca Ferguson has starred in some gigantic franchises across her acting career, including Peaky Blinders, Mission: Impossible, Doctor Sleep, Men in Black, and The Greatest Showman. But in 2023, she was put in charge of her own sci-fi series on Apple TV, and, three years later, it is still one of the biggest shows on streaming worldwide.

Nielsen recently dropped its weekly streaming viewership figures, and Rebecca Ferguson’s Silo, which just released its third season, is raking in the views on Apple TV. Season 3 is releasing new episodes weekly on Apple TV, and, according to the latest viewership figures, audiences cannot get enough. It is currently the number one series on Apple worldwide. But The Nielsen Company has put actual statistics to that. For the week of Jul 27 to Aug 2, Silo was the seventh most-watched streaming original series. The series earned a total of 432 million minutes watched over the past seven days, which is insane. On Apple, it was beaten only by Ted Lasso, which earned 446 million. However, Netflix’s The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare tanked them all with 864 million minutes viewed. But even that can’t compare with The Big Bang Theory, which was the most-streamed series/movie overall last week, with over 1.141 billion minutes viewed on HBO Max (thanks to the ongoing Stuart Fails to Save the Universe).

‘Silo’ Is Back and Better Than Ever

Based on the novels by Hugh Howey, the series is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the last remnants of human civilization live in a sprawling underground silo. When one woman says she wants to go outside (which is a cardinal rule within the silo), her wish is granted, and she’s sent to the deadly surface to clean the external camera and see if humanity can live above ground. However, her journey to the top raises some questions and kickstarts a silo-wide conspiracy against the ruling overseers, which all trickles down to Juliette Nichols (Ferguson), a lowly engineer.

With its constant twists and turns, Season 1 felt like a breath of fresh air. Season 2 was still fantastic, but it felt too comfortable in its sci-fi formula. However, Season 3 has pushed the mystery even further, with a complex amnesia plot and even darker clues surrounding the truth behind the silos and the Earth’s scorched surface. No wonder Season 3 holds a near-perfect 96% Rotten Tomatoes score.

‘Silo’ Has One Season Left on Apple TV

Silo is well and truly into its third season. Nine episodes have been released so far, with the tenth (the season finale) dropping on Sep 4. After that, there’s only one season left of Silo. Following Season 2, Apple renewed the show for two more seasons. The series hasn’t been canceled. It was always built around a four-season story. The final season doesn’t have an exact release date, although it has been confirmed for Summer 2027.
