Yash macho image behind Toxic failure. Yash’s action entertainer Toxic directed by Geetu Mohan Das which released amidst huge expectations failed at the box office.
Now ,many are of the opinion that Yash’s playboy image could be the reason for the failure. Raj Kandukuri , producer says . “A hero romancing two or three heroines can sound exciting on paper. But if those relationships are forced, they can backfire,”
He continued “Intimacy and glamour have a limited role to play.” Citing the example of Animal, he said “Sandeep Reddy Vanga handled those relationships well. The motivations were clearly established.”
He pointed out Kamal Haasan’s intimate relationship with Trisha character in Thug Life and said “The problem there was not morality. It was the writing. The relationship became a weakness in the film.”
He added “Today, audiences have access to unlimited adult content. Every relationship has to be justified.”
Director Teja says . “These roles are often limited to a few scenes. It is unfortunate, because many actresses are capable of delivering much more than just looking beautiful or showing dancing skills, but they are mostly used as glam props and take the blame too,”
Producer Vishnuvardhan Induri adds “I don’t think it is only about glamour. Producers and directors spend every rupee with a purpose. The director would have designed important roles for these actresses and decided how to present them. Besides, top actresses bring additional mileage and can help attract a global audience.” Hence, it’s all about commercial equations,
