The Gentlemen star responds to Meghan Markle rumours with cheeky Prince Harry comment

Theo James, one of the leading actors in the latest season of The Gentlemen, has addressed rumours that the Duchess of Sussex might be appearing in the series three of the show

A star of Netflix’s The Gentlemen has joked that newly UK-based royal Prince Harry could have a role in the hit Netflix show. Theo James, who plays Duke Eddie Horniman in the show, made the joke as rumours swirled about whether Harry’s wife Meghan Markle was going to be acting in the show.

Season two of The Gentlemen, released today (September 3) revolves around Theo’s Duke Eddie, a former British army captain, wading deeper into the criminal underworld.

The series comes as rumours continue to swirl that Meghan could return to the screen in series three of the show. Theo was asked about the rumours in an interview with Extra TV on the red carpet this week.

He responded by joking: “No. Prince Harry is playing one of my love interests. So that’s the Meghan Markle thing.”

This isn’t the only occasion Theo, who appears in Guy Richie’s The Gentlemen alongside Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, and others, has talked about whether Meghan is acting in the show.

He also spoke to Town & Country about the rumours, but took a more serious tone when he was asked once again about the matter. He said: “No.”

He added that it had been “mainly a lot of hot air”, before adding that at the moment they were “just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon”.

Theo’s comments about Meghan come nearly 10 years after her last appearance in much loved US legal drama Suits, where she played Rachel Zane.

Netflix’s UK scripted chief Manda Levin also gave a cryptic answer to the Meghan question last month. She simply responded: “All bets are off.”

It comes as Meghan and Harry return to the UK for their first permanent stay in six years. The pair are reportedly living in the Cotswolds, with both Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enrolled in schools.

The the pair flew by private jet from California to Birmingham Airport last week before being driven to a private non-royal residence.
