After more than three years, Diablo 4 is finally getting its big, bad, final boss: Diablo himself is coming to the game next week in season 15, alongside familiar characters, locations, and items inspired by all eras of the APRG’s history.
Diablo was a huge focus of this year’s BlizzCon 2026, mostly headlined by the announcement of Diablo 5. Blizzard managed to keep the lid on Diablo 5 ahead of the event, so its reveal was quite the surprise indeed, but the studio made it very clear that it’s not ready to abandon Diablo 4.
The game’s next season brings everything full circle for the series’ 30th anniversary with the long-awaited addition of Diablo, as well as the other two Prime Evils, Mephisto and Baal, as well as the iconic friendly character, Deckard Cain, and new Legendary items inspired by the series’ past. Basically, it’s one big Diablo birthday party, and it’s all kicking off next week with the Season of Hell’s Legacy, which launches on September 15.
