Summer may be coming to an end for us, but it’s just beginning for Linda Cardellini’s Pamela Voorhees in Crystal Lake.
The Friday the 13th prequel series follows the mother of slasher icon Jason Voorhees before she started murdering sex-crazed counselors.
While completely unhinged, her motivations were that of a grieving mother, who lost a grip on reality after her son (played in the show by Callum Vinson) drowned in the titular body of water because those responsible for him weren’t doing their job.
Crystal Lake reveals how the whole sad affair went down.
“Pam is a cook at Camp Crystal Lake, Jason is an 11 year old camper participating in all activities despite his physical limitations, and his mom is absolutely intent on making sure he has a normal summer outdoors with other kids…but with ultimately tragic consequences,” showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) told Empire magazine. “Things take some twists and turns on the way to Pam’s total psychotic break and subsequent bloody rampage.”
When Does Crystal Lake Take Place in Friday the 13th Timeline?
Crystal Lake takes place eight years before the events of the original Friday the 13th movie, showrunner, Kane confirmed.
“As a longtime Friday The 13th fan,” the showrunner added during his chat with Empire, “I knew what I would want to see in a show, and of course I’d want more story and character—but you also want all those familiar goodies from the movies peppered into the context of the story we’re telling.”
He continued: “I just want fans to have a good time in the same way I had a good time watching the movies in theaters. Just that rollercoaster of emotions and the thrill of the unknown. That’s certainly what I’d be jonesing for after such a long Friday The 13th drought.”
Cardellini and Vinson’s co-stars include William Catlett (Levon Brooks), Devin Kessler (Briana Brook), Cameron Scoggins (Dorf), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom (Grace), Nick Cordileone (Ralph), Joy Suprano (Rita), Danielle Kotch (Claudette) and Phoenix Parnevik (Barry).
When Does Crystal Lake Come Out?

In addition to serving as showrunner, Kane is also an executive producer alongside Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox and Roy Lee.
